LINE FOLLOWER CHALLENGE

A robotics competition conducted as part of Invento ’26 , that evaluates the ability of autonomous robots to follow a predefined path.

GOAL & GUIDELINES :

Goal :Build an autonomous robot to navigate a black line track from start to finish. The winner is determined by the fastest completion time and highest accuracy.

Guidelines :

1. Robot Specifications

• Robots must be custom-built; pre-built robots or ready-made kits are not permitted.

• The robot must be fully autonomous and battery-operated.

• No human intervention is allowed once the run begins.

2. Track Specifications

• The track consists of a white surface with a continuous black line.

• Line width will be approximately 25 mm (2–3 cm).

• The course may include acute angles, loops, T-intersections, curves, and other challenges.

• The exact track layout will be disclosed on the day of the event.

3. Run Format & Timing

• Teams are allowed three calibration attempts before the competition.

• Each team is given three official runs on the track.

• Only the best time among the three runs will be considered.

• Each run must be completed within 5 minutes.

4. Penalties & Scoring

• Evaluation is based on completion time, accuracy, and task completion.

• If the robot leaves the track, it may be reset to the exit point with a +5 second penalty per hand touch.

• A robot may skip a track element only after three failed attempts, with a +20 second penalty for each skipped task.

• Failure to complete specific tasks (such as Hit & Fall) will result in a time penalty, as decided by the judges.

5. Judge Decisions

• All decisions made by the judges are final and binding.

• No protests or arguments will be entertained.
