Duration: 2 hrs
The Calicut Heritage Walk is a curated cultural journey that brings alive the stories, sights, and soul of Kozhikode — once celebrated as the Port of Legends on the Malabar Coast. Designed and led by Prof. (Dr.) Ajmal Mueen M. A., historian and heritage expert, the walk offers participants a deeply immersive experience into the city’s layered past, vibrant trade traditions, and living multicultural legacy.
Tracing routes through historic quarters like Kuttichira, Valiyangadi, and Gujarati Street, the walk unfolds tales of Arab traders, Gujarati merchants, Mapilla communities, and European explorers who shaped Calicut’s identity as a global trading hub. Along the way, visitors encounter architectural treasures such as Mishkal Mosque, Muchunti Palli, and Mother of God Cathedral, while savoring the aromas of Kozhikodan Halwa and the rhythms of street life that echo centuries of coexistence.
